Problem
A common problem that is found among students, even highschoolers today, is the inability to create unique fundamental code. Oftentimes students know the basic structure of programming, but are unable to create uniquely developed systems, leading to a tutorial loophold, quick answer look-up, or AI assistance, in which young developers start to lose passion for the field because they feel incapable. When students try to further themselves it leads to the knowledge of basic functions, but lack of ability to have something readily prepared for coding problems or solo/group projects.
Our goal
Our Goal is to teach students the value computer science brings in modern society today, teaching them the importance, fundamentals, opportunity, and life learning skills that comes along with all of it. Our goal is to change the lives of students today, showing them that there is so much opportunity in the world. We plan on teaching Computer Science, so that young aspiring developers will be able to create unique fundamental code to games, problems, or competitive programming on their own. Young developers will be able to adjust their unnecessary habits so that it does not become a problem in future development, so that way if they choose to follow the path of becoming an engineer in the field, they will achieve something greater than they ever could’ve imagined. Not feeling stuck and not losing passion for the field because of something that could’ve easily been fixed, starting now will allow them to persevere and strive for something greater, without the regret of wishing they started earlier. If students choose not to take the route of becoming a computer science engineer, we hope that our course will teach them that there is always a problem that can be solved with their own brain, because everyone is smart, and we hope to help them realize that. If students feel stuck on anything, we will teach them that there is always a solution and always someone willing to help, they just have to find that right person. Everyone will become successful, because SteamWork makes the DreamWork.

At Crosscoders.org, we are dedicated to offering free, in-person Computer Science programs to middle schoolers. Our mission is to engage students in Computer Science, teaching them how to design and code in Python and Scratch. Join us in developing the next generation of tech enthusiasts and innovators.
